The Future of BAT Factory in Boncourt: Shipping and Logistics Sector to Remain Active, Ensuring Job Retention and Collaboration with Fondation Les Castors

2023-06-22 14:26:00

The BAT factory will ultimately not completely close its doors by the end of the year. According to a communication on Thursday, British American Tobacco executives informed staff that the shipping and logistics sector would remain in Boncourt, along with the company’s headquarters. The Jura Government immediately welcomed this decision “which guarantees around fifteen jobs at Boncourt and the continuation of collaborations with the Fondation Les Castors, which employs six people”. The building and warehouse located near the Coop will thus remain active.

As a reminder, the BAT company had confirmed in December the total closure of the Boncourt site and a gradual relocation of activities during the year 2023. The elimination of some 220 jobs had been announced. /comm-alr
