The leading travel website Conde Nast Travellerpublished a list of them 13 best destinations in Europe for vacation in October highlighting in third place Crete.
As the international media points out, “October is the smart traveller’s favorite time for vacations. Prices are often much more affordable at this time and options range from dreamy Italian hideaways to idyllic Greek islands.’
In the top three of the list are Cyprus, Sicily and Crete. According to Conde Nast Traveler “as the birthplace of Zeus, Venus, Apollo and all of Western civilization, Crete is a myth come true. Greece’s largest island has paradisiacal beaches, coves set against vivid shades of blue, fertile hillsides and a summer season long enough for a beach holiday in October. You can wander around the ancient temples and the Palace of Knossos without crowds and enjoy Cretan cuisine in family restaurants in mountain villages.”
Calabria, Malta, Ibiza, Bodrum, Rhodes, Cadiz, Lanzarote, Algarve, Antalya and Kos are next on the list.
