The decision was reserved on the request of electricity distribution companies to increase 2 rupees 94 paise per unit. The increase was sought in connection with the March fuel price adjustment. During the hearing, members of Nepra said that cheap plants are closed and expensive ones are being run.
Chairman Nepra held a hearing on CPPA’s request to increase electricity prices.
NTDC officials said power consumption fell short of the expected target of 8 percent in March, due to weather impacts on the north-south transmission system.
He said that the production from hydel and nuclear was high, the impact of solarization was also coming on the system.
Member Nepra Rafiq Shaikh said that net metering and solar system are not happening from today but for the last three to four years.
Powered Vision officials said that the overall electricity demand decreased by seven and a half percent, 55 million units of electricity were purchased through net metering.
