The CEO of Radio France announces it in “Le journal du dimanche”.
Radio France President Sibyle Veil announces in the Sunday newspaper its plan to soon rename the Maison de la radio into the Maison de la radio et de la musique. “It is a strong symbolic act after a year in which, more than ever, we have supported the cultural and musical sector (…) It is finally an act of commitment: we are doing it at a time when we have many new musical projects, for example a big music festival at Radio France“, she says.
Inaugurated on December 14, 1963 near the Seine in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, the “round house” consists of a crown 700 meters in circumference and a tower 68 meters high, located in its center. It houses a thousand offices and 63 recording studios for a total area of 100,000 m². The building was classified as a historical monument in 2018.
The boss of the public group adds, in line with this announcement, the next development of a “own content aggregator» : «it takes the form of a 100% audio Radio France application, completely free, which will be supplemented by a unique website“. This platform will bring together content, but also podcasts and a space dedicated to music. The objective is plural: increase listening time, protect content as well as promote musical diversity and new talents.
Sibyle Veil also announces that she wants “overturn the table»To set up a plan of 60 actions aimed at diversity. This will concern “both what is heard on the air and what happens off the air».
