The increase in prices for chicken eggs occurred due to the improvement in the quality of life of Russians, who began to eat meat products and eggs more often. This opinion was voiced on Thursday, December 21, by the head of the State Duma Committee on Industry and Trade, deputy Vladimir Gutenev. Interview with a parliamentarian published in the Telegram channel of the DumaTV publication.

“The analysis showed that in this case, the quality of life of our citizens has increased, and they have increased their consumption of meat products and chicken, as well as dietary meat and eggs. And oversized capacities are bad. We do not give producers the opportunity to make a profit, since excess always leads to slower price growth,” the deputy said.

He explained that “unmet demand creates a deficit,” which is “also bad,” and emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance.

According to Gutenev, in terms of price conditions, the preferred suppliers of eggs are Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iran.

“Already now laboratories are working there with suppliers, because we must take not only a cheap product, but a high-quality product that has been assessed by sanitary and epidemiological inspection,” the deputy added.

According to Rosstat, since the beginning of 2023, eggs have risen in price by almost 53%.
