The Impact of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and the High Cost of the Vaccine on Seniors – A Discussion with Pharmacist Benoît Morin

The respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine costs $250 to $300 in pharmacies. However, its high cost discourages the elderly.

Marie-Claude Lavallée discusses with pharmacist-owner Benoît Morin the impact of respiratory syncytial virus on seniors.

“The good news this year is that we have a vaccine. This is the first year that we have a vaccine which is unfortunately not yet in the range of vaccines offered free of charge for customers at risk,” explains Benoît Morin.

The dose would, however, be effective for more than a year.

“It is always more profitable to prevent these diseases than to try to control the effects followingwards,” he adds.
