General Joseph Aoun: No one has the right to take over the army except the Chief of Staff

The Armed Forces Commander, General Joseph Aoun, decorated the promoted officers with the insignia of the rank of brigadier general in General Njeim Hall – Yarzeh, and congratulated them on their promotion as well as on Father’s Day, considering that the promotion is a deserved result of their efforts and sacrifices.
He stressed that the first goal of the military institution is to protect civil peace and stability, despite the difficulties.
He addressed the officers by saying: “You are challenging the crisis and assuming your responsibilities with full transparency and professionalism to protect Lebanon, and this is the highest and most important goal for you.”
He added, “No one has the right to take over the army except the chief of staff who acts on behalf of the army commander.
This is clearly stated in the National Defense Law. Therefore, the appointment of members of the military council is a necessity.”
He concluded by thanking everyone who facilitated the process of signing the promotion decrees, especially Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
