The Israel basketball team lost tonight (Sunday) to Slovenia 88:79 in the second game of the Eurobasket qualifiers. Despite a great start to the game and an excellent first quarter, Israel’s poor three-point percentage did not allow it to be a worthy opponent for the Slovenian team, which enjoyed the support of the crowd. Israel ended the February window with a 1-1 record, following the victory over Portugal on Thursday.

The game was clouded by provocations by pro-Palestinian Slovenian fans before and during the game. At halftime of the game, a man with a beanie tried to break into the parquet, while chanting condemnations of Israel from dozens of fans in the stands.

Israel left the Slovenians at 2 points in 5 minutes and allowed them to throw a lot of threes that went wide. In the attack, Yeftah Ziv and Yam Madar with successful three-pointers set 2:10 and the Slovenians took a quick timeout. Even following that, the Slovenians did not find the ring, Yaftah Ziv and Itai Segev with dunks along with other good moves by Ginat and Madar took Israel down with an 8:20 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, the statistics evened out and following 9 consecutive three-point fouls, Perflich entered and with him the three-pointers also entered. Slovenia began to offset the difference little by little until in the end they also took the lead with a three-pointer by Perperlić. The Slovenians controlled the offensive rebound and Dimich took advantage of it to score points and take the Slovenians down with a 37:40 lead at the end of the first half.

Blazic and Samer continued the Slovenian momentum and the local advantage kept growing during the third quarter, until Perflic’s three-pointer established the record lead, 41:55 for Slovenia. Good minutes from the bench of Bar Timur and Rafi Manko maintained the gap until at the end of the third quarter Israel was behind 53:65.

Israel tried to get back into the game in the last quarter with a lot of energy Noam Yaakov but it was too late, the percentages from three and the penalty were very bad and Robust closed the matter and gave Slovenia a victory 79:88. After two rounds, Slovenia without a loss, Israel with one win and one loss.

Israel scored: Madar 19 (6 ace), Ginat 17 (10 rib), Ziv 9, Timor 8, Manko 7, Zusman 7, Yaakov 6, Segev 4, Levi 2.
