In any case, there is room on the left of the SPÖ and the Greens, as the election result in Salzburg clearly showed. If there is room for 11 percent communists in a traditionally rather conservative federal state and room for 22 percent communists in the festival city of Salzburg, the SPÖ and the Greens, both of whom suffered losses, did something wrong and the communists apparently did a lot right.
