The Ski World Cup stops from Friday to Sunday in Cran-Montana in Switzerland for the women and in Kitzbühel in Austria for the Men. This Saturday, the Ladies’ Downhill program starts at 10:00 a.m., live on Eurosport 1 with comments from Louis-Pierre Frileux, and at 11:30 am the Gentlemen’s Downhill, still live on Eurosport 1, with comments from François-Xavier Rallet and Pierre Emmanuel Dalcin !
Among the Ladies, Sofia Goggia won this Friday the first descent of Crans-Montana in Switzerland. On a shortened track, she made the difference on the top to beat the Czech Ester Ledecka by 20 hundredths and the American Breezy Johnson of 57 hundredths. Slovak Petra Vlhova signed a superb fourth place (+0 “89) and soared in the general classification. On the French side, it will be for Tiffany Gauthier (19th, +1 “62) and Laura Gauché (29th, +2 “07) to confirm after the good points taken on Friday.
At men’s, Beat Feuz signed a real demonstration to win the downhill on Friday. The Swiss, who won for the first time in Kitzbühel, beat the Austrian Matthias mayer and Italian Dominik Paris. Just as surprising as the Transalpine, Johan Clarey, who fell in training Thursday, managed to slip under the second (+0 “89) to fail at the foot of the podium. The 40-year-old veteran, who admitted to feeling pain before his descent, repeated the same performance last year, by placing 4th. New podium chance for the Frenchman on Saturday with a second descent on the Streif, before a Super-G on Sunday. If he maintains the same control as during this first descent , Beat Feuz could well take the lead of the classification of the small globe. (Eurosport website info)
