I am standing on the ruins of the former Schaunburg. Its power is still impressive. Even the name says it all: look into the country! And indeed, the view extends far into the “Landl”. Into the land of the Schaunberger. It was their dream: their own intermediate kingdom between the old Duchy of Bavaria and the former Margraviate of Austria, which was raised to a duchy by the so-called Privilegium minus in 1156.
