German Chancellor Olaf Scholz plans to travel to Kyiv ahead of the G7 summit at the end of June, according to the German newspaper, Bild. The German newspaper, quoting sources in the French and Ukrainian governments, said that Schulz plans to make the visit, accompanied by French President Emmanuel Macron and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi.
It is noteworthy that since the outbreak of the war, a number of leaders visited Kyiv to show solidarity with Ukraine following the Russian attack. Schulz admitted mistakes were made in dealing with energy supplies from Russia.
In a speech at the opening of the East German Economic Forum, Schulz said in Bad Sarov yesterday: “We have relied on energy supplies from Russia for too long and unilaterally too much, and the old formula that Russia is a reliable economic partner in crises, is no longer mast ». He added, “The goal has become clear for this reason.” He said that this goal is the need for Germany to dispense with Russian energy imports, provided that this is as quickly as possible and also safely as necessary.
