The “Little Prince”: how a video of the “Minneapolis Kid” was found

“I immediately went to the newsroom and started showing the video to people saying, ‘I’m not going to tell you who I think it is, but who do you think it is? And each person answered ‘Prince'”says Matt Liddy, on the CBS website, parent company of the WCCO-TV channel.

On the images in this archive, a journalist from a local television channel asks students for their opinion on the strike affecting the school in this city in the north of the United States. “I think they (teachers) should get a bit more money because they work, they do overtime for us and all that”then responds the one who was later confirmed to be the “Kid de Minneapolis”.

Because by comparing the boy with photos of young Prince, and following having consulted one of his friends at the time and even the music historian, Kristen Zschomler, the CBS editorial staff deduced that it was the star, then 11 years old, they had in front of them. “There are so many things in his gestures and his eyes that make it look like him”, assured Kristen Zschomler with CBS.
