The main rescue center comes with a clear sup notice after the rescue operation in Larvik

The first report from the police was that the man and the child had gone missing after a trip on a surfboard near Stretestranda in Larvik.

The South East Police District launched the rescue operation at 2.25pm. Less than fifteen minutes later, the missing were spotted on a reef.

When the rescue boat arrived, the two were unharmed, reports operations manager Espen Reite in the Søreast police district in the Police Log.

Later, operations manager Lise Bjørnsund updates that the incident was less dramatic than what the first report might indicate.

– The message to the emergency services was a distance message, where the reporter was unsure whether anything could have assisted those involved. Fortunately, that was not the case, the people involved did not need rescue, she says.

The incident meant that the Central Rescue Service felt compelled to make an appeal.

– The main rescue center advises everyone to consider both current and wind before setting out with smaller craft, including SUP boards. This is because we have had several incidents over the weekend where those involved cannot get to shore by themselves. Remember to also wear a life jacket, HRS Sør-Norge signs X/Twitter.
