The Green Health Minister Johannes Rauch only spoke of a short “breathing space” when he announced last week that the corona protection measures that were still in force would be largely withdrawn. As of this Wednesday, the mask requirement in supermarkets and public transport will be suspended almost everywhere for three months, as planned. It also persists in hospitals and retirement homes. It must be assumed that the mask might become necessary once more in autumn if the number of infections rose once more in the colder season, Rauch pointed out. Only Vienna remains stricter than the rest of the federal states over the summer.
