The number of Ukrainian refugees in the EU with the status of temporary protection exceeded 5 million

The number of refugees from Ukraine who received the status of temporary protection in the EU countries, as of March 28, exceeded 5 million people. This follows from data United Nations Refugee Committee.

Most Ukrainian refugees among the EU countries bordering Ukraine settled in Poland (1.5 million), the Czech Republic (500 thousand), Bulgaria (155 thousand), Romania (123 thousand) and Slovakia (112 thousand).

Among other EU countries, most Ukrainians settled in Germany (922 thousand), Great Britain (191 thousand), Italy (173 thousand), Spain (171 thousand), France (118 thousand), Austria (94 thousand) and the Netherlands (89 thousand).

In total, 8.1 million refugees from Ukraine were registered in the EU countries. At the same time, regarding 11.3 million Ukrainian refugees who left the country following the start of the military conflict have already returned to Ukraine.
