The Pink Pandoro: A Fashion Blogger’s Christmas Collaboration for a Cause

2023-12-20 14:17:00

The Pandoro is as much a part of Christmas in Italy as the traditional nativity scene and the colorful, flashing fairy lights. The name Pandoro is made up of the Italian words “pane” (bread) and “oro” (gold) – a gold cake. What might be more obvious than turning the gold cake into a cash cow, Chiara Ferragni must have thought. And so last year, Italy’s most successful fashion and lifestyle influencer, with 30 million followers, designed pink packaging with her logo for the Pandoro producer Balocco and heavily promoted the cake on Instagram – with the argument that part of the proceeds would go to a hospital for children with cancer in Turin.
