The Polish government on Wednesday adopted a national program to stimulate the production of ammunition totaling up to two billion zlotys (426.7 million euros), said Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Production will be launched at the Dezamet weapons factory.

“And the order is 800 thousand units of ammunition, these are orders that will amount to 12 billion zlotys (1.7 billion euros). This is the obligation that we have taken on – namely, increasing the potential for acquiring an arsenal of ammunition in the near future, and it is desirable that this nevertheless, it was produced on the territory of the Republic of Poland,” he stressed.

Poland is also seeking to attract foreign investors – primarily from the US and South Korea – to invest in the production of ammunition.

The approval of the program for the production of ammunition in Poland became known earlier this week during a meeting between Mateusz Morawiecki and European Commissioner for the Internal Market Thierry Breton.
