The polo association ended last year with a surplus of 445 million

The Hungarian Water Polo Association (MVLSZ) closed the year 2023 with a significant result of more than HUF 445 million.

President Norbert Madaras spoke regarding the economically successful past year in his report, which was delivered at the MVLSZ’s annual general meeting this weekend.

According to Saturday’s news on the federation’s website, the two-time Olympic champion-turned-sports manager was able to give plenty of account of the successes he achieved in the pool, stating that “Hungarian water polo once once more showed the world what it is capable of”. The president recalled that, in addition to the men’s national team’s world championship title and Olympic quota, the youth national teams achieved a historic series of successes, as four teams also won gold medals at age-group world competitions. In the history of the sport, it has never happened that the same country has won both U20 World Cups, and in addition, the U17 girls and U15 boys won the European Championships, while the U15 girls won a bronze medal, and the U17 boys also finished among the four.

Norbert Madaras highlighted that “our cooperation with old sponsors has continued, we receive larger amounts of support than before, and we have also managed to attract several new sponsors to the sport – Hungarian water polo continues to benefit from all of this.”
