Michael Corleone Blanco: the promise he made to his mother before dying and that he finally kept

Griselda Blanco is remembered as one of the most dangerous drug traffickers in the history of Colombia and for being the pioneer in tracing a cocaine trafficking route to the United States.
His criminal life, following several years, came to light once more due to the premiere of the series Griselda the Netflix, production starring Sofía Vergara.
Nevertheless, The name “The Black Widow” continues to be relevant today thanks to his only living son: Michael Corleone Blanco.
The descendant of Griselda Blanco recently generated controversy in the world of entertainment for suing Netflix accusing them of distorting their mother’s story in their audiovisual production.
Besides, The son of “The Black Widow” has also been in the eye of the hurricane for the promotion of his book My Mother, The Godmother, where he tells the life of the Colombian drug trafficker.

During the promotion of this work, Michael Corleone Blanco, in a talk with journalist Mandy Fridmann, spoke regarding his mother’s last days and revealed the promise he made to her before he died.
“It means a complete circle for me, that I can share good stories and bad stories with the world, but at the end of the day make a project that is positive, so to take some of the negative and transform it into something positive, for me it is the something I promised her,” he said.
Likewise, Griselda Blanco’s only living son shared that he was able to witness the change that the drug trafficker had throughout her life due to the circumstances she went through.

First he saw her as a powerful drug trafficker, then as a convict when she was imprisoned in the United States and finally as a woman of faith during his last months of life.
“I saw the change in her over almost three decades, and the last change, when she became a Christian lady, since an elderly lady was the change that most women go through at that age, her style, her way of being, her look… Everything changed to a woman who perhaps regretted everything she had done in life,” he concluded.
