After years of speculation, the publisher of Stephen King or Britney Spears has been sold for 1.62 billion dollars (1.47 billion euros) to the KKR investment fund, its owner, Paramount, confirmed on Monday. The information had leaked in the “Wall Street Journal” in recent days.
“Simon & Schuster is a fantastic asset, but strategically it’s not at the core of our mission to create world-class video entertainment,” said Paramount CEO Bob Bakish, presenting the group’s quarterly results following the close of trading.
