The PX8 from Bowers & Wilkins are a new luxury ANC headphones

Three years following the PX7, which is still a reference headset today, Bowers & Wilkins is launching a successor, logically called PX8, which aims to scrap once morest Apple’s AirPods Max.

In 2019, Bowers & Wilkins launched the PX7, a wireless over-ear headset that was lighter than the usual products in this category, and which above all incorporated active noise reduction. Which was not so common at the time. All this justified the asking price, $400, which many had found very high. But in a world where Apple now offers $549 AirPods Max, nothing is surprising anymore!

30 hours of luxury listening

That’s why Bowers & Wilkins can launch a PX8 at… $700! For this price, the successor to the PX7 brings luxurious materials up to date: aluminum for the headband, shape memory pads and Nappa leather are on the agenda. The headset uses the same active noise reduction technology as the PX7 S2 released a few months ago, as well as 40 mm drivers borrowed from the manufacturer’s 700 range.

The PX8 supports Qualcomm’s adaptive aptXTM, and for those who would still like to keep a wired connection with their smartphone, it is possible to plug the headphones into a 3.5mm jack port or a USB-C port. The announced autonomy is 30 hours, but without specifying whether we will reach them with or without the ANC. The complete recharge of the battery is 2 hours, but we can be satisfied with 15 minutes of recharge for 7 hours of listening.

B&W promet « low distortion over the entire frequency range » and simply « best sound quality » never offered by the manufacturer on a wireless product. Sacred promises that will have to go through the test of real life to be validated.
