Although on July 6 the death of the dissident guerrilla Iván Márquez had been commented, this Monday a communiqué signed by the commander of the Segunda Marquetalia of the Farc dissidents was released in which he spoke of NATO and the United States.

It is a four-page letter in which it does not refer to the situation of the armed conflict in Colombia, but does refer to international politics, and which it publishes in the midst of the commemoration of the birth of Simón Bolívar.

Iván Márquez was one of the guerrillas who deserted from the Peace Agreement signed by the extinct FARC in 2016 in Havana, Cuba, to return to armed life by declaring the Second Marquetalia and return to armed life together with other ex-guerrillas who are already dead, such as Jesús Santrich.

Since his possible death was discussed in a hospital in Venezuela, the spokesmen for the Government of Gustavo Petro, such as the high commissioner for peace, Danilo Rueda, maintained that the information regarding his possible death was being verified.
