Time to drive another nail in the coffin for physical media. Disney has announced that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will be the last film ever released in Australia on Blu-ray or DVD, and there will be no new prints. So once the last Disney movie is sold and disappears from store shelves, it’s all regarding streaming if you happen to live in the land “below.” In due course, other major publishers will likely follow in the same footsteps, and given the current streaming trend continues, there are many signs that this is the future that awaits us all. Convenience and ease, of course, but we also relinquish all control over which titles and which editions we can watch.
