The Rødt leader promises a fight in power politics in his 1 May speech

Martinussen gives the speech in Tromsø, but also posted it on Facebook beforehand. In the speech, she strongly opposes the right-wing energy policy and promises to fight once morest the EU’s fourth energy market package and Acer.

– Now is the battle to take back the democratic control over the power – to ensure reasonable and predictable electricity prices for ordinary consumption for people and with which the power refining industry can live, says Martinussen in the speech.

She accuses the right of running a ring around the European power exchange. Norway exports renewable hydropower and imports high European electricity prices, she insists.

– Conservatives and Liberals say that it is urgent to introduce the EU’s fourth energy market package. And even if the FRP pretends to be once morest it, we must remember that it was the FRP’s top politicians and energy ministers who were beaten through the EU’s third energy market package and Acer, says Martinussen further.

The speech is also devoted to topics such as opposition to the pension reform, that more value creation should accrue to ordinary people instead of capital owners, criticism of market thinking in health policy and proposals to scrap the health enterprise model.

She concludes by appealing to the parliamentary majority and the Norwegian authorities to do more for Gaza.

– Israel’s massacres and starvation of Gaza’s civilian population might amount to genocide in our century. It obliges the world community and Norway to act now, writes Martinussen, who refers to the proposals to introduce sanctions once morest Israel, stop arms sales, and ban goods from occupied territory.
