The SEHOP-PENCIL project begins to implement precision medicine in childhood cancer in Spain

The study, coordinated by Vall d’Hebron, aims to facilitate access for all children and adolescents with cancer to personalized medicine regardless of their place of residence

SEHOP-PENCIL will establish a state coordination strategy with 10 hubs or genomic centers that will have the capacity to sequence blood samples and tumors that arrive from other hospitals

Knowing the biology of the tumor is important to identify specific alterations that allow improving diagnosis, offering targeted therapies, stratifying patients according to their risk and detecting syndromes predisposing to the development of tumors, all to improve survival and reduce sequelae.
