In a democracy there is freedom of expression and different points of view must be allowed to be discussed. This also applies to public works of art, which are, following all, financed with tax money. However, there is a difference between productive criticism and a deliberately heated tirade. The excitement surrounding the Gelitin artist group’s recently commissioned anniversary fountain in Vienna-Favoriten is regarding the latter.
