The son of the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka has resigned from the ministry

Namal Rajapaksa, the son of Sri Lankan Sports and Youth Affairs Minister and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, has resigned from all departments. He thanked voters and party workers and said his resignation had been announced and would take effect soon. Earlier, it was reported that Mahinda Rajapaksa had resigned, but the PM’s office denied the allegations.

The office said reports that Mahinda had handed in his resignation to the president were not true. It is alleged that the government’s misguided policies led to such an economic crisis.
