The mainland reported 680 new local infections of the new coronary pneumonia the day before yesterday, with Gansu and Guangxi still accounting for the most, with 308 and 232 cases respectively, 18 in Shanghai, 24 in Guangdong, 1 in Beijing, and there were cases in Sichuan, Anhui, Henan and other places. Macau reported four new infections the day before, bringing the total to 1,814. The Macau Health Bureau said yesterday that the source of the current wave of the epidemic has not yet been found, but it does not affect the prevention and control of the epidemic.

Taiwan reported 16,921 new local confirmed cases yesterday, the lowest in nearly 86 days, and 53 new deaths. Two more local people were infected with BA.5, one of whom was a Kaohsiung shipyard worker who was diagnosed in May. At least 10 of the 118 close contacts in the factory were positive, and two of the three family members were positive. It has been diagnosed before the onset of the disease, and the source of infection is unknown, so this transmission chain is temporarily positioned as workplace transmission.
