Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag has revealed that Mahendra Singh Dhoni, one of India’s greatest ever captains, was part of a superstition. Sehwag realized Dhoni’s superstition during the 2011 World Cup. Sehwag said that Dhoni only took kichtadi throughout the tournament to win the World Cup.

Many cricketers are superstitious. Throughout the 2011 World Cup, Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni played on only kichadi. Sehwag said, “He had a belief that the team would win by eating kichdi.”

Sehwag revealed this while talking to Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan at the fixture release of the 2023 Cricket World Cup. India won the World Cup that year by defeating Sri Lanka in the final.

Sehwag said that there is a possibility of India-England final in this year’s World Cup. Sehwag added that India, Pakistan, England and Australia will reach the semi-finals.
