A bullet pierced former US President Donald Trump’s ear during a campaign rally, an assassination attempt in which Donald Trump died only because the assailant missed his target. The assailant was killed by sniper fire, but it was later revealed that the assailant had been practicing marksmanship since childhood.
The attacker, armed with an AR-15-style rifle, opened fire from the roof of a building regarding 140 meters from the stage where Donald Trump was speaking.
The attacker has been identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crook.
Speaking with ABC News, Myers said Crooks tried to join the high school rifle team but was rejected and told not to return following a “preseason” session.
“Not only was he not picked, but he was asked not to come back because he was hitting so badly that he was considered dangerous,” Myers said.
Another member of the team, speaking on condition of anonymity, told ABC News that there was a view that Crooks ‘wasn’t really a fit for the rifle team’.
However, the school district said there is no record of Kroc being on the rifle team.
The school district said Crooks “never appeared on any roster,” according to ABC News.
Crooks was part of a local shooting club called the Clairton Sportsmen’s Club.
He was described as “quiet” and “very smart”, but Crooks was alone.
