It will be, in 2024, the 26th time that the Tour will start from abroad. It was Amsterdam, in 1954, which had this privilege first. With 6 Grand Départs, the Netherlands are ahead of Belgium (5) and Germany (4). Italy is the eleventh country to have this honor. The Tour has already crossed the Alps to stop there twelve times: the first in 1948, in San Remo, the last in 2011, in Pinerolo.
