On the way to the 150th anniversary of the Song Festival, the first song and dance festival in Latvia is being built on the Grand Stage of Mežaparks. permanent exposure. It will be located inside the new stage building, where it is also planned to build a concert hall suitable for choral music concerts and recordings.
The exhibition, created by experts from the Museum of Literature and Music, playwright Rasa Bugavičūte-Pēce, composer Juris Vaivods, architect Austris Mailītis and other professionals, will feature the festive timeline, personalities and events from the 19th century to the present day, installation “The Largest Choir in the World”.
The stories of the participants of the festival will also play an important role, notes the head of the Museum of Literature and Music Iveta Ruskule.
“We plan to collect experiences from the participants of the song festival, starting from the earliest possible ones, which the current society remembers. These stories of memories will play an important role in the exhibition, as will the memories from the beginning of the festival. We have memories of Tirzmaliete, memories of Mary Greenberg, Ernests Vīgners, Jāzeps Vītols. This is how this story of memories will continue to the present day, ”Ruskule pointed out.
