The US State Department congratulates Tunisian tennis player Anas Jaber on her historic achievement

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – On Thursday, the US State Department congratulated the Tunisian tennis player, Anas Jaber, who achieved a historic achievement and became the first Tunisian and Arab player to reach the final of a “Grand Slam” tournament following reaching the Wimbledon final.

“Congratulations to Anas Jaber on qualifying, as you have become the first Arab and African woman to reach the Grand Slam final,” the account of the US State Department’s Near East Department said on Twitter.

The Tunisian player met German Tatiana Maria in the semi-finals and managed to beat her by two sets to one to reach the final.

It is reported that Anas Jaber will face Kazakh Elina Rybkina in the final, who defeated Romanian star Simona Halep.
