The National Civil Police (PNC) reported that they seized 4,900 ammunition of different calibers during an investigation in San Marcos.
He also reported the capture of Aníbal “N”, 39 years old, in the Cheguate canton, in the Chequin village, Tacaná, San Marcos.
According to the PNC, Aníbal “N” was traveling in a pick-up truck where he was transporting 92 boxes with 22mm caliber ammunition.
He was also transporting six boxes of 9mm caliber ammunition, for which he was taken to court to resolve his legal situation.
Other catches
In the La Maquina sector, Retalhuleu, Eleazar “N”, 38 years old, was arrested when he was illegally carrying a gun.
While police from the Tourism Security Division, following a complaint in the Frontera village, Río Dulce, Lívingston, Izabal, captured Víctor “N”, 47 years old.
They reported that the captured person was supposedly under the influence of liquor and was carrying a pistol, with which he allegedly fired shots.
Meanwhile, the Guatemalan Army reported that another subject was captured in the so-called Ring of Fire operations on the border between Guatemala and Mexico, in San Marcos.
They seized 66 boxes of 22mm caliber ammunition from the detainee and a box of 9mm ammunition that he was carrying in a sack.
They also intercepted two supposedly minor subjects. Both said they were Mexicans and two balaclava hats and a gun were found on them, so they were placed at the disposal of the authorities.
These operations are to prevent the entry of armed groups into Guatemala, the Army said.
