Breaking: Beach Fest Volleyball By Powerade Launches in Yucatan with Eye on Gender Equity

Mérida, Yuc., June 4, 2025 – With significant support from the Institute of Sports of the State of Yucatan (IDEY), the first edition of Beach Fest Volleyball By Powerade has been announced. This inaugural tournament aims to establish itself as a premier sporting event, blending inclusive, family, and competitive elements in beach volleyball.

The event is set to take place on August 9 and 10 in the clubs of the port of Chicxulub. Participants are expected from various states, including Campeche, Quintana Roo, Chiapas, Tabasco, and Colima, promising a high-level competition and family-friendly atmosphere.

Promoting Sport for Well-being

During the official announcement, Armín Lizama, head of IDEY, emphasized the state government’s commitment to sport as a vital tool for physical and emotional well-being, led by Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena. Lizama stressed, “We know perfectly that sport is a fundamental tool for a healthy life. We will continue to drive activities such as this that promote discipline and perseverance in girls, boys, and youth.”

Equitable Awards and Broad Inclusion

Organizers have ensured that the tournament offers different categories for both sexes, catering to all ages from children to adults. Fermín Antonio Molina Marrufo, director of Hazlo and main organizer, highlighted the gender equity aspect of the tournament. “The awards are the same for both the female and male branches. With 10 thousand pesos to the first place and four thousand to the second, it’s time to recognize that women also provide the show and deserve the same treatment.”

The registration cost of 1,000 pesos per couple includes a Dry Fit uniform made of recycled materials by the Hazlo brand, participation medals, accident insurance, and a guarantee of at least three complete matches.

A Comprehensive Festival Experience

Beyond the competition, the festival is designed to offer a complete experience. Facilities such as stands, shade, dining areas, toilets, and parking promote social interaction between families, friends, and sports communities. Interested persons can register via dasport.run or through the Instagram profile of the organizing brand @hazlomr, where they will find the QR code for registration. The call will be open until July 15 to ensure adequate uniform sizes and timely delivery of insurance policies.
