Breaking News: New Measures Enhance Social Housing Comfort in Peru
In a groundbreaking move, the Ministry of Housing, Construction, and Sanitation (MVCS) has unveiled new measures to improve the comfort and quality of life for families accessing social interest housing. The recently published Regulation of the VIS, dated April 10, 2025, introduces significant changes that aim to address the housing needs of Peruvians more effectively.
Increased Footage for Improved Living Standards
One of the key highlights of the new regulation is the mandatory increase in the footprint of social housing under the own ceiling program. Single-family homes now have a minimum ceiling area of 35 square meters, up from 25 square meters. Multi-family housing is required to provide at least 40 square meters of roofed area and 66 square meters of lot area in urban zones. These changes promise a notable improvement in living conditions for many families.
A New Progressive Housing Model
Introducing further innovation, the regulation also outlines a new progressive housing model comprising 50 square meters of ceiling area for the own ceiling program. This model features two levels and three bedrooms, which will be showcased on a real scale at the upcoming Coexienda event scheduled for June 17 and 18 at the Lima Convention Center.
