High blood pressure is not a fatal condition in itself, but it can lead to chronic or long-term heart disease such as coronary artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, or heart attack and cardiac arrest in some cases.

Its effect may be usually imperceptible to the eye, and you can reduce it by drinking “one” cup of a popular breakfast beverage, according to express.

Although blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day, constantly rising causes the walls to harden and contract, forcing the heart to work harder to pump blood throughout the body, and over time, this can increase the risk of a heart attack.

Dietary decisions can effectively lower high blood pressure, with specific items shown to lower a high reading. Orange juice, a breakfast staple, was shown to lower high blood pressure following consuming one cup, in a study published in the journal SpringerLink.

The primary objective of the study was to evaluate the effect on blood pressure of orange juice containing a natural content of hesperidin, and orange juice rich in hesperidin, a plant compound found in citrus fruits such as orange juice, and the compound has been linked to blood pressure reductions in several studies.

For the study, participants received half a daily cup of hesperidin-enriched orange juice drink or orange juice for 12 weeks, and found that a “single” half-gram dose of hesperidin-enriched orange juice reduced systolic blood pressure, with “larger changes following continuous treatment.”
