France’s Thomas Ramos acknowledged a less-than-polished performance following a 33-8 victory over Italy in the Six Nations on Sunday, but emphasized the resilience of the Italian side.
Speaking to France 2 after securing a bonus-point win, Ramos, who earned his 50th cap for France in the match, stated, “It wasn’t the most accomplished match, that’s for sure. But I can tell you that the Italian team sold themselves dearly. When you look at their first two matches in the tournament, you’re not surprised by the intensity we saw tonight.”
The French fly-half and fullback described a patient build-up to the win, acknowledging some first-half errors and difficulty converting opportunities in the second. “We built our match patiently, with a few mistakes in the first half. In the second half, we struggled to score, but we didn’t concede any points. Eventually, we broke the match down with endurance, which we were able to impose on them for 60-70 minutes. Bravo to the whole team,” Ramos said.
The victory maintains France’s perfect record in the tournament, with 15 points from their opening three matches. According to web search results, Ramos currently has 514 points for France in 49 appearances as of February 15, 2026. He has been a key player for Toulouse, with 176 appearances and 2,096 points scored as of June 30, 2025.
Looking ahead, Ramos anticipates a crucial week of rest before facing Scotland and England in the remaining matches of the Six Nations. “We have a small week of rest to recover because it’s been three exceptionally intense matches. That will be good. Then we have the last two matches to proceed and try to win the title,” he stated.
