A polar bear was observed Tuesday evening in the heart of the village of Kuujjuaq in Nunavik in northern Quebec.

The animal was filmed wandering between the houses of village residents.

A contact informed TVA Nouvelles that the bear had caused a feeling of panic among the population.

Although the polar bear may seem very charming and endearing, the animal can be very dangerous, especially when it ventures into populated areas.

Many photos flooded into the Kuujjuaq Facebook page. The animal was then a few meters from the residents.

However, the bear had to be shot by citizens, according to information from the Nunavik Police Department.
