The images are impressive and chill in the back. The 5th stage of the Tour de France Women, linking Bar-le-Duc to Saint-Dié-des-Vosges (175.6 km), was the scene of a huge fall 42 kilometers from the finish. Right in the middle of the peloton, a runner fell, dragging dozens of others to the ground with her.
Entangled with each other, it took several minutes for the peloton to extricate themselves from the accident and set off once more. One of the girls even got her leg stuck in her wheel. Emma Norsgaard Bjerg seems to be the only one seriously affected. The Dane from the Movistar team, in tears, had to be treated for long minutes and must withdraw from the Grande Boucle ladies.
