Toyota Motor Announces Restart of Japanese Plants Despite New Year’s Earthquake, Using In-Stock Parts

Toyota Motor will restart its Japanese vehicle plants on Monday, as originally planned, the company said in a press release on Sunday.

The automaker clarified that since many of its suppliers and their subsidiaries are in areas affected by the New Year’s earthquake that hit the Noto Peninsula, it will use in-stock parts in outside these areas. (Reporting by Kevin Buckland; Writing by William Mallard)
