FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Five teenagers were killed when their car skidded off the street on a curve and plunged into a retention pond in South Florida and capsized, authorities said.

The event happened on Sunday night or Monday morning, and all the occupants of the vehicle died. Crews pulled the Kia sedan out of the water Monday.

Fort Myers police identified them Tuesday as 19-year-old Eric Paul; Jackson Eyre, 18; Amanda Ferguson, 18; Breanna Coleman, 18; and Jesus Salinas, 18.

The News-Press in Fort Myers reported that Paul, Eyre, Ferguson and Coleman worked together at a Texas Roadhouse restaurant and had gone out to eat together following their shift Sunday night. The restaurant closed Monday so their family and friends might remember them at a dinner. The premises were decorated with flowers and framed portraits of the victims.
