A cyclist died Thursday followingnoon in a collision with a car in Ostend, local police said. The precise circumstances of the accident have not been precisely established.
The accident occurred around 3:00 p.m. and despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, the victim succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
The Bruges section of the West Flanders public prosecutor’s office has appointed an expert to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. The police specify, however, that the young 20-year-old driver had a negative saliva test and was not under the influence of alcohol either.
