Tragic Case of Yuyo Ono: Abandonment Resulting in Death and Confinement in Tondabayashi City

In June of last year, Yuyo Ono (2 years old at the time) died of heatstroke following being left behind at a housing complex in Tondabayashi City, Osaka.

Her grandmother, Mayumi Ono (47), tied Yuyo’s arms and legs, kept her in a playpen for three days, and did not give her enough water or food, causing her to die of heat stroke, the guardian said. He was charged with abandonment resulting in death and confinement.

In previous trials, Ono had claimed that there was no evidence of bondage regarding the charges once morest him.

In the ruling on the 16th, Presiding Judge Miyako Fujiwara of the Sakai Branch of the Osaka District Court stated, “There were pressure marks on the body, and the objective evidence is consistent with defendant Ono’s child’s testimony.” was deemed to have been tied up.
