American actor Angus Cloud, one of the stars of the television series ‘Euphoria’, died in July at the age of 25 from a mixture of fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and benzodiazepine. The overdose is considered ‘accidental’.

‘Angus suffered acute intoxication related to this drug mixture,’ said a spokesperson for the Alameda County Department of Forensic Medicine, California.

The actor played drug trafficker Fezco ‘Fez’ O’Neill alongside actress Zendaya in the series ‘Euphoria’, one of HBO’s biggest hits, which won several Emmy Awards. He had had to deal with the recent death of his father and suffered from mental health problems, his family said when announcing his death.

“Angus spoke openly regarding his battle with mental illness and we hope his passing will remind others that they are not alone and do not have to fight alone in silence,” she said in a statement.

The series ‘Euphoria’ offers a dark chronicle of the lives of contemporary American adolescents, for whom drug addiction and sexual violence are part of everyday life. The production was praised by critics, but also heavily criticized online, accused of glorifying drug use.

The soap opera allowed Angus Cloud to obtain his first role. He was spotted by a casting director while walking with friends on the streets of Brooklyn, New York.
