As soon as the lawyer listened to them, the attackers took out a file and quickly pulled out a pistol, shooting the lawyer at close range. After that, they immediately fled the scene.
Hearing the gunshot, people in the vicinity rushed to the spot. The injured lawyer was immediately taken to the medical college, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way. The local police, led by Superintendent Neeraj Kumar Jadaun, are investigating the murder. The motive behind the murder is still unclear, and a special team has been formed to catch the attackers.
This murder has sparked outrage within the local lawyer community. On Tuesday night, several lawyers gathered outside Mehrotra’s house, and some blocked the road in protest. The situation was brought under control with the help of senior lawyers and police officials in about 15 minutes.
