A serious road accident occurred overnight from Thursday to Friday in Engis, in the province of Liège, the emergency services communicated on Friday morning. A young woman in her twenties lost her life following her vehicle rolled over. She is the only one involved in the accident.
For a reason that remains undetermined, the driver lost control of her vehicle, which then hit a hedge in the undergrowth of Saint-Séverin, located on the border between the town of Engis and that of Nandrin. Citizens immediately went to meet the young woman and called for help, says Johan Ancia, acting mayor, late Friday morning.
During the intervention of the emergency services, shortly before 1 a.m., the vital prognosis of this person, who lives in Saint-Georges-sur-Meuse, was engaged. Rushed to a local hospital, she eventually succumbed to her injuries overnight.
The prosecution was notified of the accident. A car expert and a medical examiner went to the scene. Investigation duties are underway to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether or not the person was under the influence. The police in the Meuse-Hesbaye area activated the police assistance service for victims and informed the family of the news.
