This Sunday around 3 p.m. an incident occurred at the level crossing on rue Vanderveken in Ganshoren. Train traffic between Jette and Ternat had to be interrupted for a few hours. Our colleagues from Het Laatste Nieuws learn that this traffic interruption is due to a tragic incident. A 17-year-old was hit by a train. “The police services were called at 2:50 p.m. for a person who was caught by a train coming from Brussels-North and who was going to Ghent,” prosecutor Stefan Vandevelde told our colleagues. On the spot the doctor might only note the death. According to witnesses whose comments are reported by HLN, the level crossing barriers were well down and the victim was under the influence. The analysis of the images from the surveillance cameras is in progress.
