Chennai: The police have arrested eight people, including the woman, her father and her brother, in the case of her boyfriend being murdered and thrown into the canal. Sakthivel (23) from Thanjavur Tirumalai Samudram was killed. Balaguru, daughter Devika, son Duraimurukan and five hired killers were arrested in the incident.
Police said that Devika and Shaktivel were in love. Although both belong to the same community, Devika’s father Balaguru opposes the love and plans to kill Shaktivel. Along with his friend Satya, he arranged for hired killers from Madurai to do the job. The police said that Balaguru killed Sakthivel with the help of hired killers who called him to the farm on the pretext of talking regarding the land deal. They threw Sakthivel’s body and the vehicle he came in into the nearby canal. The police said that the investigation revealed that daughter Devika and son Durai Murukan were involved in this.
Balaguru and his sons were arrested following the body was found in the canal. The hired killers were caught by the police when they came to collect money from him.
